age 68, Columbus Kansas died Wednesday in City hospital there after an illness of over a year. He was born Feb 9, 1906, in California Missouri and moved to Columbus in 1947, from Crestline Kansas. He was a retired mine owner and operator, having worked in the Tri-State mining district for some 45 years. He was superintendent at the Nellie B Mine operation and for the American Lead and Zinc Company. He later owned and operated the Marlene Ann Mine. He was a member of the Columbus Lions club and the Baptist church. Mr. Green is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jane Green, of the home; two sons, William J. Green, Columbus, and James M. Green, Ft. Scott Kansas; one daughter, Mrs. Marlene Harris, Parsons Kansas; two brother, Cecil Green, Columbus, and Fred Green, Baxter Springs Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Cleo Welch, Crestline, Mrs. Bertha McKee and Mrs. Beulah Coy, both of Columbus; a half-brother, George Hickman, St. Louis Missouri and five grandchildren. Services will be in the Columbus City cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel from 7 to 9 pm Friday. A memorial fund has been established and donations to the American Cancer Society are suggested.
