Funeral services for James 'Verl' Goddard were held Monday Feb 7 in the Fairview Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev Derrel Friend and Rev. Derrel Loughridge officiating. Burial was in Bado cemetery under direction of Elliott Gentry funeral home, Cabool. James Verl Goddard of Cabool, died Feb 3, 2000 at the Texas County Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Verl was born in Astoria Missouri, to Floyd Goddard and Allie Coble Goddard. At the time of his passing he was 83 years, 8 months and 28 days. He had lived in Texas county for 39 years coming here from Oklahoma where he had worked in the mines. He had been employed by the State Highway Department, for 20 years prior to this retirement. Verl was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Cabool where he had lived for the past few years moving from the Fairview and Bado community. He has been preceded in passing by a daughter, Joy Allison, his parents and a sister, Lena Poynter. Surviving are his wife, Doris Goddard of the home; two grandsons, Keith Allison, and Russell Allison of Cabool; a granddaughter, Janice Allison of Cabool; a great grandson, R. J. Allison of Cabool; a niece, Betty Ann Lash of Riverton Kansas; several cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
