one of the pioneers of Miami and Ottawa county Oklahoma, died at the home of his son, W. S. Gibson, of Grove Oklahoma Thursday, July 27. Mr. Gibson was born Sep 22, 1845, died Jul 27, 1916, age 70 years, 10 months and 5 days. The deceased was a member of the Friends church of Miami. He served as a Union soldier during the Civil War and for many years was a member of the G.A.R. Post here. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. George B. Gibson, of Kansas City Missouri; and the following sons, George O. Gibson of Miami; W. D. Gibson and A. H. Gibson, of Grove; S. W. Gibson, of Oilton Texas; H. O. Gibson of Richard Missouri; R. N. Gibson of Jamestown Kansas; E. I. Gibson, B. Gibson and W. W. Gibson, of Kansas City; and the following daughters, Mrs. Walter Brock of St. Louis Missouri; Mrs. D. F. Byrd of Fairland Oklahoma; Mrs. Charles Reed of Kansas City Missouri; and Mrs. O. H. Woelner of Versailles Missouri. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jones at the home of the deceased's son, George O. Gibson, Fifth and Quincy Streets at Commerce Oklahoma, at 9:30 o'clock Saturday morning. Interment was made in G.A.R. cemetery at Miami.
