Abstract Data

74 years old retired superintendent of the Black Eagle Mining Company and a resident of Miami for more than 20 years, died at 4:30 o'clock Saturday morning at his home, two miles west of Miami. Garred was associated with the Black Eagle Company for more than 19 years and prior to coming to Miami was interested in mining operations near Joplin Missouri. He was a member of the Carterville Missouri Masonic blue lodge, and of the Scottish Rite and the Shrine at Springfield Missouri. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Zella Garred; four daughters, Mrs. Beulah Hammel, Mrs. Jennie Reynolds, Mrs. Mary Gaines and Mrs. Avonell Smith, all of Miami, and one son, Ray Garred, of Miami. Also among survivors are two brothers, L. A. Garred of Louisa Kentucky, and Less Garred of New York City. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church with the Rev. E. L. Jorns, pastor, officiating. Masonic rites will be held during burial at the G.A.R. cemetery of Miami. The Cooper funeral home will be in charge. Pallbearers include Ray Smith, John Horn, Mart Smith, J. W. Woodard, M. F. Owens and Jim Horn.
