Grand Lake shores, died Monday, May 11, 1998, at 8:45 pm at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin Missouri, after a brief illness. He was 66. Mr. Drane was born Apr 7, 1932, in Picher Oklahoma, to Harley Walter and Opal L. Hook Drane. He had lived in Picher most of his life. He moved to Miami 15 years ago and had made his home at Grand Lake shores since that time. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He had worked for Eagle-Picher Mining Company in Picher for a number of years and the Safeway Baker, Joplin, for 29 years until his retirement. He married Donna M. Haden on Sep 28, 1976, in Miami. Survivors include his wife, Donna M. Drane, of the home, Miami Rt 4; three sons, Richard J. Drane, Polson Montana, Cutberth J. Drane Jr., Picher, and Basel A. Drane, Commerce Oklahoma; a daughter, Deletha M. Goodnight, Virginia Beach Virginia; two sisters, Shirley Elmore, Picher, and Erma Dean Samples, Treece Kansas, and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Drane, on Jan 27, 1995, and a sister-in-law, Bobbie Jean Drane, April 22, 1998. The service will be Friday, May 15, 1998, at 2 pm at the Paul Thomas funeral home chapel, Picher, with the Rev. Charles Clevenger officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery in Kansas, northwest of Picher and Treece Kansas. Pallbearers will be Norman Cox, Don Bruenmier, Russ Diedrikson, Steve Bunce, Roy Collins and Rick Russell. Mr. Drane will be taken to the family home on Grand Lake shores to lie in state from 4 pm Thursday until the funeral hour. Services are under the direction of the Paul Thomas funeral home of Picher.
