58 year old retired miner and resident of Picher Oklahoma for twenty five years, died at the home of his mother Mrs. Amanda Downing, 505 North Maple, Commerce Oklahoma. He was a veteran of World War I and had moved to Commerce only two weeks before his death. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Daisy Downing; a daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Pulley, Treece Kansas; two brothers, Ed Downing of Picher, and Ray Downing of Wichita Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Susie Perry of Commerce and Mrs. Ethel Bolin of Wichita Kansas, and five grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Baptist church in Commerce with the Rev. Arthur Hottel officiating. Burial was in the Baxter Springs Kansas cemetery.
