Solomon "Sully" M. Dobson, a Miami pioneer who was prominent in development of the Picher Oklahoma lead and zinc field, died Sep 14, 1960, age 81, at 12:20 pm today at his home, 106 A Street southwest. Mr. Dobson, who had been ill five years, was associated with his father, S. B. Dobson, and brother, W. W. Dobson, in a mining company which developed the first lead and zinc operations in the town of Picher. They also built the S. B. Dobson and Sons Ice company they sold in 1914. S. M. Dobson, with members of his family came to Miami in a covered wagon in 1894 from Cuba Kentucky. With the exception of a sister, Miss Nellie Dobson, who lives at the A Street address, other members of the family have died. Mr. Dobson was a member of Masonic bodies in Miami and the consistory at McAlester Oklahoma. He also belonged to the First Assembly of God church in Miami.

Funeral services will be held at Miami Friday afternoon for S. M. Dobson. The Rev. L. J. Choate of Fort Worth Texas, formerly pastor of the Assembly of God church here, will officiate at rites to begin at 2 pm in the Cooper funeral home chapel. Burial Sep 16, 1960, will be in G.A.R. cemetery at Miami. Pallbearers will be J. B. Payton, Charles Shelton, Tom Bomford, Lloyd Kerns, John Wallace and John Wiley. Honorary pallbearers include Charles Edgerly, F. F. Kyser, F. E. Millner, H. A. Berkey, Ed Lee, Glenn Robinson, Earl Coffman, J. A. Robinson, George Stein, Hugh Wright, A. J. Polette, Dan Hensley and Andy Anderson.
