52 year old lead and zinc miner and World War I Veteran, died at Picher Oklahoma at his home, 500 West Sixth Street, at 7:10 pm Thursday, following a long illness. A longtime resident of the Tri-State district, Dixon formerly was a ground boss and superintendent for the M & W Mining Company. As an independent operator, he had operated a mine in Zincville. Dixon, who was a member of the First Baptist church, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ozina Dixon, of the home; three sons, James F. Dixon of the U.S. Army in Dallas Texas, Herbert Dixon of Liberal Kansas, and Darrel Ray Dixon of the home; a daughter, Pauline Fay Dixon of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Woods of Miami, Mrs. E. L. Voshalike of Crane Texas, and Mrs. Madie Pitts of San Francisco California; a brother, Ora Lee Dixon of Oklahoma City and a grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Baptist church at 3:30 pm Monday. The Rev. M. R. Dareing and the Rev. Clarence Bergen will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery at Miami under direction of the Cooper funeral home.
