Mr. and Mrs. Roy Denman of Commerce Oklahoma...were killed instantly when their car crashed into a concrete culvert three miles north of Baxter Springs Kansas late Saturday night...Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Denman will be conducted at 10:30 am Tuesday at the First Baptist church. Denman, employed in the mines at the time of his death, lost control of his vehicle, traveling at a high rate of speed, on a curve in U.S. Highway 66, just north of the Brush Creek bridge. Denman served as a patrolman with the Miami police department from 1929 until 1937 when he became a deputy sheriff under former Sheriff Walter L. Young. After serving as a county law enforcement officer, Denman accepted a mining position. Mrs. Denman, formerly Mrs. Zelpha Madigan, was the owner of the Madigan beauty shop. Her business place was moved to Commerce about a week ago and Mr. and Mrs. Denman made their residence on North Vine Street.
