retired Eagle-Picher Company foreman and resident of Ottawa county Oklahoma for the past 40 years, died in Miami Baptist hospital at 8:50 p.m. Thursday following a long illness. DeMier, 71 years old, had lived at 31 C Street northwest, Miami, since he moved from Picher Oklahoma 26 years ago. An employee of Eagle-Picher since 1916, DeMier was general flotation foreman at the company's Central Mill near Cardin Oklahoma when he retired on April 28, 1939. He was active in the development of the lead and zinc mining field in and around Picher and is credited with pioneering the installation of flotation milling equipment in the Tri-State district. A member of the First Methodist church, DeMier is survived by three sons, O. L. DeMier of Joplin, Buel W. DeMier of Fairfield Illinois, and Fred DeMier, Jr., of Tulsa; two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Trimble of Miami and Mrs. O. E. Spencer of Tulsa; three brothers, William DeMier of St. Louis Missouri, Jack DeMier, of Leadwood Missouri, and Joe DeMier of Bonne Terre Missouri, and 16 grand children. Funeral services will be conducted in the Cooper chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Oscar L. Fontaine will officiate. Pallbearers will be Judd Follis, Elmer Jarrett, John DeMier, Earl Gaines, W. O. Pendleton and Bob Williams. Burial will be G.A.R. cemetery at Miami.
