A resident of the Picher Oklahoma area for 30 years, George Washington Darnell died at noon Saturday at the Talihina Oklahoma sanitarium, where he had been a patient about a year. He was 50 years old. Darnell, a hard rock lead and zinc miner, is survived by his wife, Lucille Darnell, of the home in Picher, at 310 North Netta Street; three sons, Eugene Darnell, Joplin Missouri, Jim Darnell and George Darnell, Jr., both of the home; four daughters, Clara Darnell, Connie Darnell, Beatrice Darnell and Darlene Darnell all of the home; his mother, Mrs. Lizzie McDonald, Cardin Oklahoma, and three sisters, Mrs. Laura Seay, Grants Pass Oregon; Mrs. Mae Cox, Treece Kansas, and Mrs. Kenneth Emery, Detroit. Arrangements for final rites will be announced by the Hunter funeral home of Picher.

Funeral services for George Washington Darnell, 50 year old Picher area miner who died in the Talihina sanitarium Saturday, will be conducted at the First Baptist church in Picher at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. C. E. Bergen will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bill Parker, Jay Hemphill, Frank Brosemer, Henry Vaughn, Jim Burke and Paul Brown. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery, northwest of Baxter Springs Kansas, under direction of the Hunter funeral home of Picher. The body will lie in state at the family home, 310 North Netta Street, until the funeral hour.
