Picher Oklahoma, died at 12:35 pm Saturday, Jul 25, 1998, at Baptist Regional health Center, Miami, after an illness. He was 73. Mr. Cross was born Nov 17, 1924, at Knoxville Iowa, to Dan E. Cross and Stella Mae Collins Cross. He had lived in Picher most of his life. Mr. Cross served under General George Patton in the Third Army during World War II, going to Berlin. He received five Bronze Stars and two Silver Stars. He was a lead and zinc miner in the Picher mining fields for many years. Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Kisling, Carthage Missouri; two brothers, Roy Cross, Picher, and Jerry Hulvey, Columbus Kansas and a sister Joyce McNeely, Phoenix Arizona. The graveside services will be 2 pm Tuesday, at the G.A.R. cemetery of Miami. The Rev. Ray Clanton will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Northeast Oklahoma Veterans funeral Detail. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 pm tonight at the Paul Thomas funeral home of Picher.
