of Hockerville Oklahoma, died at 3:33 am Monday, Jun 19, 2000, at his home. He was 71. He was born Jun 5, 1929, in the Cherry Grove District east of Quapaw Oklahoma, to Charley Benton Crabtree and Sara Alma Newcomb Crabtree. He lived most of his life in the area and made his home in Hockerville for several years. Mr. Crabtree was a retired lead and zinc miner and a farmer. He had worked for International Paper Company, Joplin Missouri. he attended the Baptist church. He married Bertha Turner on Jun 8, 1964, in Columbus Kansas. She survives, of the home. Additional survivors include five daughters, Ruby Williams, Maxia Texas, Pam Reynolds and Carlene Dunbar, both of Quapaw Oklahoma and Charlene Hawes and Jenny Abernathy, both of Webb City Missouri; two brothers, Jim Crabtree, Quapaw, and Clifford Crabtree, Miami Oklahoma; two sisters Rosealee Lucas, Salina Kansas and Linda Sue Williams, Colvert; 14 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Harry Benton Crabtree, Jr.; his parents Charley Crabtree and Sara Crabtree; and a sister, Nellie Eby. The service is 10 am Wednesday, at the Paul Thomas funeral home chapel, Picher Oklahoma, with the Rev. Chuck Price officiating. Burial is in Newman cemetery, east of Quapaw. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will received friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
