who lived in the Sunnyside community near Quapaw Oklahoma for 25 years before moving to Baxter Springs Kansas three years ago, died late Wednesday after a long illness. He was 56 years old. A retired farmer and miner, Crabtree succumbed at the family home, 228 East 22nd Street. He had spent much of the past three years in the Veterans hospital at Muskogee Oklahoma. A veteran of World War I, Crabtree is survived by his wife, Gladys Crabtree, a school teacher at Peoria Oklahoma; a son, Gary Crabtree, of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Andrews, Baxter Springs; Mrs. Elmer Grazier, Golden Colorado, and Mrs. Ira Dixon, Garnett Kansas, and two brothers, Ben Crabtree and Charles Crabtree, both of Baxter Springs Kansas Rt 2. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Wene mortuary.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 Saturday afternoon in the First Christian Church. The Rev. Albert M. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Baxter Springs cemetery under direction of the Wene funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the home from 8 o'clock Saturday morning until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Perry Fogleman, Floyd King, Charles Woodard, Sr., Everett Skaggs, Howard Morgan and Dale Douthat. Born in 1897 in the Indian Territory, Mr. Crabtreet had been a lifelong resident of the district. He was engaged in farming and mining until retiring several years ago because of ill health. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Gladys Crabtree; a son, Gary Crabtree of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Andrews of Baxter Springs, Mrs. Elmer Grazier of Golden Colorado; and Mrs. Ira D. Dixon of Garnett Kansas, and two brothers, Ben Crabtree and Charles Crabtree, both of the Sunnyside community.
