Heat prostration was fatal last night for John W. Cox, 57 year old former Commerce resident, who died at his home, 324 North Willow Street, about 5:30 pm. Cox had lived at Commerce about 20 years before he moved to Baxter Springs Kansas, about a month ago. He had worked at the Beaver Mine of the Commerce Mining and Royalty Company near Cardin Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ethel Cox; a son, Leonard Cox, superintendent of schools and a Baptist preacher, at Wyandotte Oklahoma , and a daughter, Miss Ailene Cox of the home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is being held at the Mitchelson undertaking company at Commerce.

Funeral services for John W. Cox, 57 years old, former Commerce man who died Monday night at his home in Baxter Springs, will be held at 10 am Thursday at the First Baptist church in Commerce. The Rev. I. E. Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery at Miami, under the direction of the Mitchelson undertaking company.
