Final rites for Joseph L. Counts, 77 year old longtime resident of the Tri- state district, will be conducted at the Cooper chapel at 1:30 Friday. Joe Ellis, associate minister of the First Christian church, will officiate. Pallbearers will be Arch Morrison, J. O. Howton, Roy Sanders, L. D. McDowell, O. W. Weeks and Oscar Vanatta. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery at Miami. Counts, who had lived in Miami for the past 28 years, died in his home at 1302 North Main Street at 2:45 pm Wednesday. He was employed for many years, since 1915, with the old Commerce Mining and Royalty Company before illness forced his retirement several years ago. A member of the First Christian church, Counts is survived by his wife, Mrs. Idabelle Counts of the home; a daughter, Mrs. J. H. Gibbs of Arkansas City Kansas; a son, Orson Counts of Miami; a sister, Mrs. J. V. Morris of Los Angeles California, and a granddaughter.
