died at 5:50 am Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Medicalodge, Columbus Kansas, after a short illness. He was 78. Mr. Cornog was born Apr 17, 1923, at Picher Oklahoma, to Len Cornog and Fannie Long Cornog. he attended school in Sulphur Springs Arkansas and Picher. he lived most of his adult life in the Chetopa Kansas area. he served with the 147th Infantry in the South Pacific during World War II. he worked as a millwright for Day and Zimmerman Ammunition Plant, Parson Kansas, until his retirement in 1988. he also worked in the lead and zinc mines, pipeline in Neosho Missouri, John Deere in Chetopa and Oswego, Allis Chalmers in Independence Missouri, and National Gypsum. he was a member of Faulkner Christian church, and a lifetime member of the Oswego VFW. He married Alene Mardell Lawrence on Feb 7, 1943, in Miami. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include a daughter, Karlynn Jean Agee, Sedgwick Kansas; a son, Larry Wayne Cornog, Columbus; two adopted children, Bonnie Garrett, Bartlett Kansas, and Connie Stevens, Weir Kansas; a sister, Virginia Hall, Pittsburg Kansas; three brothers, L. J. Cornog, Granbury Texas, James Cornog, Boones Mill Virginia, and John Cornog, Miami; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Cornog; a sister, Sarah Cornog, and his parents...Simpson funeral home, Columbus. Burial in Fly Creek cemetery, rural Columbus.
