age 89, pioneer hard rock lead and zinc mine driller in the Tri-State area, died at 12:45 am, today at his home, 401 Clark Street, Baxter Springs Kansas, following a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday in the chapel of Schurman funeral home, Baxter with Dr. Livingston Whitten officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Joplin Missouri. Born Mar 21, 1870 in Kenny Illinois, Mr. Coppenbarger had lived at Baxter since moving there from Joplin in 1917. Surviving are two sons, Jack Coppenbarger of Baxter and Robert Coppenbarger of Joplin; three daughters, Mrs. May Asher and Mrs. Nellie Lindeman, both of Joplin and Mrs. Gladys Brewer, Baxter Springs, a brother, William Coppenbarger of Chetopa Kansas; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. his wife died in 1942. Three sons also preceded him in death.
