Research Notes: A 1978 listing of G.A.R. cemetery at Miami. Burial records shows Rose Cope died in 1974, William Josep Cope died in 1972, and Earl Cope who died in 1926. All three in the Cooper addition which is one of the oldest sections of the cemetery.

Abstract Data

a retired Picher Oklahoma hard rock lead and zinc miner, died at Miami Baptist hospital at 10 pm Thursday at the age of 83. Formerly of Picher and Quapaw Oklahoma, he had been residing at a Commerce Oklahoma Nursing home. Born Jan 16, 1889 at Garfield Arkansas. Mr. Cope had resided in the Picher-Quapaw area for 50 years. He was a member of the full Gospel church. Surviving him are his wife Mrs. Rose Cope, Commerce, a daughter, Mrs. Jewel Hopkins, Walla Walla Washington; a step-daughter, Mrs. Ethel Taylor, Homeland California; a step-son, Fran Hayter, St. Paul Minnesota, and 5 grandchildren. Services will be at 10 am Saturday at the Paul Thomas Chapel, Picher, with the Rev. Albert Baker, Pittsburg Kansas officiating. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery, Miami. Pallbearers will be Albert Wyrick, Orville Wyrick, Jack Wyrick, Ace Wyrick, Elmer Wyrick and Harm Wyrick.
