City Councilman Floyd "Bill" Conway, 44, died in Picher Oklahoma hospital at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday of a heart ailment. He was stricken two weeks ago. A resident of Picher for the last 34 years, Conway had been employed as an Eagle-Picher Company electrician since 1936. He formerly operated a cafe here. Conway, who was serving his third term as councilman, was a member of the Baptist church, Odd Fellows lodge No. 596 and IOOF encampment No. 24. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alvaretta Conway, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Meeks of Picher, and Peggy Conway of the home; two sons, Harry Conway of Quapaw Oklahoma, and Homer Conway of the home; his mother, Mrs. George Snell of Joplin and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the Baptist church at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. C. E. Bergen will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tommy Walkenshaw and Arthur Walkenshaw, Willard Bogard, T. D. Wood, Elmer Denton and August Witzansky. The IOOF lodge of Picher will conduct grave side rites in the Saginaw Missouri cemetery. Burial will be under direction of the Thomas funeral home. Mayor T. D. Wood requests that Picher business establishments suspend operations from 2 until 3 p.m. Friday in respect to Councilman Conway.
