Abstract Data

Funeral services for Charles Conner, Sr., retired farmer, miner and merchant and lifelong resident of Ottawa county Oklahoma, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Baptist church in the Peoria Oklahoma community. Mr. Conner's son, the Rev. Otis G. Conner, of Ringwood Oklahoma, will officiate. Burial will be in the White cemetery, south of Fairland Oklahoma, under direction of the Hunter funeral home of Picher Oklahoma. Mr. Conner, 75, died at a hospital in Vinita Oklahoma, Friday night after an illness of about seven months. After working in Tri-State mines for many years, he farmed in the Quapaw Oklahoma and Commerce Oklahoma communities until he purchased a grocery store in Quapaw three years ago. He operated the store for two years and then moved to Commerce. He sold his home there shortly before entering the hospital. He was a member of the Baptist church in Quapaw. Besides the Reverend Conner, survivors include three other sons, Arthur Conner, Riverside California, Archie Conner, Cortez Colorado, and Charles Conner, Jr., Phoenix Arizona, and a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Shannon of St. Louis.
