Dr. Matt A. Connell, age 88, died. Dr. Connell of Sun City Arizona, and former long time resident of Miami. He came to the area when he was 12 years old and later practiced medicine in Picher Oklahoma for 25 years. He had graduated from Picher High school and attended Washington University in St. Louis Missouri and Oklahoma Medical School. He returned to take over the medical practice upon the death of his father in 1932. Connell owned Picher hospital and directed the medical program for Eagle-Picher Company and National Lead Company. In 1958 he moved to Grants New Mexico to develop the medical program for the uranium mining fields in that area. Survivors include his wife Margaret Connell of Sun City; a son Jerry Connell of Hot Springs Village Arkansas; a daughter Carolyn Georgeson of Denver Colorado; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
