of Galena Kansas, employee of the Eagle-Picher Mining and Smelting Company is the complaining witness to the gunfire incident that is connected to the death of Lavoice Miller of Picher Oklahoma. Four of 11 members of the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers, all charged with first degree murder, furnished $5,000 bonds and were released from the county jail at Columbus Kansas today. Charges were filed in connection with the death of Lavoice Miller of Picher, who was wounded by gunfire during an inter-union disturbance at Galena, Apr 11th. Miller died Thursday in a Joplin Missouri hospital. Freed on bond today were Ed Berry, James Hollingshead, William Webb and Arrell Largent. Nine members of the international pleaded innocent today to first degree murder and assault with intent to kill charges...The nine and two others are charged in the death of Lavoice Miller, who died at Joplin Missouri, Thursday, of pneumonia, contracted after his wounding in the clash two weeks ago tomorrow between the International union, committee for Industrial Organization affiliate, and the Tri-State Metal Mine and Smelter Workers union, since affiliated with the American Federation of Labor. The April 11 shooting came as members of the Tri-State union paraded down Main Street in Galena Kansas. Those arraigned today were Ed Berry, Ira Tackett, George Bankhead, Darrell Largent, Ernest Honeywell, James Kitch, Bill Webb, Earl Flowers and Dan Grigsby. The warrant, which also name "John Doe, Richard Doe and John Doe," alleges one defendant held the gun which wounded Miller and that the others aided in the shooting. The warrants charge first degree murder. They also include the lesser charges of second and third degree murder, four degrees of man-slaughter, assault and battery and even common assault, according to Kansas law.
