Chastain, Ted
Abstract Data
Treece Kansas. Ted Chastain, Treece miner, was shot and wounded at Treece Saturday and officers of Cherokee county Kansas and Ottawa county Oklahoma, sought Roland Burrell as the man who did the shooting. Chastain, witnesses reported, was fired on as he stood in front of his car near the Deal garage. Part of a shotgun charge pierced his right arm and both legs. Immediately after being wounded, Chastain was treated by Dr. B. F. Lazenby of Treece. The wounds, the physician said, were not considered serious. Burrell, authorities said, stepped from his car across the Street from Chastain and fired one shot from a shotgun. The distance, said the officer, permitted the shot to scatter and not inflict more serious wounds. The trouble was said to have resulted from the miners' strike.
