Bryan J. Chapman - of Commerce Oklahoma suffered back injuries when he fell from a scaffold at the Ritz Mine south of Cardin Oklahoma early Saturday morning. Chapman was working on the scaffold which was about 12 feet above the ground when he fell into a pit near the scaffolding. He was taken to the Picher Oklahoma hospital in a Durnil ambulance.

William J. Bryan Chapman, 57, of 1202 East A Street Commerce Oklahoma, died in Miami Baptist hospital following a long illness. Chapman, a native of Missouri, had lived in Ottawa county 45 years and in Commerce three years. He was injured in 1946 while employed by the Ritz Mining Company. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Verda Chapman, and four sons, Leon Chapman, Ronnie Chapman, Donald Chapman and Raymond Chapman, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. June Morris and Mrs. Doris Barnett of Kansas City Missouri; Mrs. Marilyn Cousatte of Albuquerque New Mexico, and Ruth Chapman of the home; three brothers, Raymond Chapman of Smithton Missouri, Eugene Chapman, Iola Kansas, and Lester Chapman, Nampa Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Ward, Sedalia Missouri, and Mrs. Dorothy Greer, East St. Louis Illinois and four grandchildren.
