Miss Alice Cameron, a teacher at the Mineral Heights school, left last night for San Antonio Texas, in response to a message informing her of the critical illness of her father, J. K. Cameron, prominent local hard rock lead and mine operator, who with his wife, some months ago went to San Antonio for the benefit of his health.

Friends of Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Cameron, 435 South Connell avenue, Picher Oklahoma, who have been in San Antonio, some months for the health of Mr. Cameron, have received information that Mr. Cameron's condition continues to be regarded as dangerous. Miss Alice Cameron, a daughter, was called to San Antonio Wednesday in response to a message informing her that her father was dangerously ill.

Picher Oklahoma. J. K. "Jack" Cameron, about 53 years old, died at 8 o'clock Sunday night at San Antonio where he had gone from Picher in January for his health. He had been in ill health for two years. The body will be returned for burial Tuesday. Mr. Cameron had lived here for 13 years, having been engaged in the mining business. Last summer he and his wife went to Colorado for the former's health. He is survived, besides his wife, by one daughter, Alice Cameron, teacher at the Mineral Heights Oklahoma school, and one son, Herbert Cameron of St. Louis. Both were at the bedside when death came. While here, Mr. Cameron and family resided at 437 South Connell Avenue, Picher. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral services for J. K. Cameron, 55 years old, prominent mine operator of the Picher district, who died Sunday at San Antonio, will be conducted at the First Methodist church at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. The officiating clergyman will be the Rev. D. W. Brashear. Pallbearers will be members of the Picher Masonic order. Members of the order are to meet at the Masonic hall at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon preparatory to marching in a body to the church. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery at Webb City Missouri. The funeral will be under direction of the Todd undertaking company.

A large group of relatives and friends assembled at the First Methodist church at 2 this afternoon to pay their last respects to J. K. Cameron, 55 years old, prominent mine operator of the Picher district, who died Sunday at San Antonio Texas. An impressive sermon was delivered by the Rev. D. W. Brashear, pastor of the First Methodist church on the subject, "If a Man Die, Shall He Live Again?" appropriate music was rendered...Active and honorary pallbearers were...Sid Henderson, George Washburn, Dr. Richard Russell, W. T. Landrum, E. M. Scott, Arthur Babb, S. C. Myers and J. F. Elliott, George Russell and G. C. Niday of Picher, R. E. Wright of Cardin, Clarence Cole of Galena Kansas, J. H. Wadleigh, Reggie Barnett, William Russell, George Potter and Harry Landreth of Joplin Missouri...Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery at Webb City, under direction of the Todd undertaking company. Mr. Cameron had lived in Picher since 1917, coming from Maine, where he was engaged in mining. In coming to Picher he became associated with the Premier Mining Company, of which the late A. M. Gaines was the head. Previous to mining in Maine, Mr. Cameron was similarly engaged in Colorado, Idaho and California. Death was due to tuberculosis and followed an illness of about two years. He and Mrs. Cameron spent most of last summer in Colorado for the benefit of his health. He returned home early in the fall apparently substantially improved. Several months later, however, his condition grew worse and in January he and Mrs. Cameron went to San Antonio in the hope of his health being material benefitted. For some time he appeared to be improving at San Antonio, but about a week prior to his death, his condition, showed sudden weakness and relatives were summoned to his bedside. In addition to being a member of the Masonic and Eastern Star orders of Picher, Mr. Cameron was a member of the Elk's lodge at Galena Kansas.
