Funeral services for S. C. Byrd, retired Tri-State district hard rock lead and zinc mining figure who died Jan 1, 1946, age 60, in the Hillcrest hospital of Tulsa Oklahoma, Tuesday night, will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the funeral home of the Webb City Missouri, undertaking company. Burial Jan 4, 1946, will be in Mount Hope cemetery. Born in Webb City, he had been in ill health for several years and inactive in mining for about two years. He and his family moved to Tulsa six months ago. A former resident of Baxter Springs Kansas, he formerly operated the Indiana Mine and Mary Jane Mine. Later he operated mines in the Picher Oklahoma field. His latest mining venture was in the vicinity of Harrison, Arkansas, about two years ago. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dema Byrd; two sons, Gerald Byrd and Morris Byrd, both in the armed forces; three sisters, Mrs. America Bartlett and Mrs. Opal Scott of Webb City and Mrs. Blanche Birkhead of Hopewell Virginia, and four grandchildren.
