Abstract Data

A district hard rock lead and zinc miner, died Mar 31, 1947, age 66, at 5:06 o'clock this morning at his home, 514 North Pearl Street, in Picher Oklahoma. He had been in ill health for three years. Button had lived in this area all of his life and had been employed as a hard rock lead and zinc miner for about 40 years. He was a member of the Christian church at Baxter Springs Kansas. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cordelia Button; one son, S. P. Button, Hockerville Oklahoma; two daughters, Mrs. T. A. Volkenberg, Joplin Missouri, and Mrs. Ray D. Mitchell, Picher; four sisters, Mrs. May Hartman, Baxter Springs, Mrs. John McMahon, Joplin; Mrs. Elmer Bowen, Tulsa, and Mrs. W. Y. Brown, Oklahoma City; two brothers, Jim Button, Benton Harbor Michigan, and Eldon Button, Tucson Arizona; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Goodson-Durnil chapel. The Rev. Robert Denton will officiate. Nephews will be pallbearers. Burial Apr 1, 1947, in the Lowell Kansas cemetery.
