of 430 S. Emily, Picher Oklahoma, died Saturday, Apr 20, 1996, at 4:30 pm at Baptist Regional Health Center of Miami. He was 78. Mr. Box was born Aug 21, 1917, in Granby Missouri, to Lennie and Bessie Davis Box. He married Anna Maria Gonzalez on Jul 10, 1974, in Kansas City Kansas, and had lived in the Picher area most of his life. He joined the Marine Corps and was a veteran of World War II. He was a retired lead and zinc miner for the American Lead and Zinc Company. Mr. Box was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness-East of Baxter Springs Kansas. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nadine Williams Box, in May 1973. Survivors include his wife, Anna Maria Box of the home; a son, Ray Box of Fairland; two brothers, Leo Box of Commerce and J. C. Box of Treece Kansas; a sister, La Wanda Jefferies of Picher; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 pm Monday, Apr 22, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness-East of Baxter Springs Kansas, with Brother Robert Morris officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn cemetery, in Kansas, northwest of Picher and Treece Kansas. Services are under the direction of Paul Thomas funeral home of Picher. Pallbearers will be Calvin Peck, Bill Asher, Gary Black, Mark Keeter, Floyd Cox and Juan DeGollado. The family will received friends from 4-5 pm Sunday at Paul Thomas funeral Home in Picher.
