Boughton, George
Abstract Data
Picher, March 28 Mr. and Mrs. George Boughton of Picher remember the early days of the mining field, when tents were used as temporary residences. When they came to Picher in 1917, they lived in a tent on North Connell avenue on the site now occupied by the newspaper plant at Picher. Mr. Boughton at that time worked for the Bingham Mill, just across the Street. There were few operations at Picher at that time, mostly small mills. After living in the tent for three months, Mr. and Mrs. Boughton rented a three room house on the corner of Connell and Second Streets, but never occupied it for the reason it was soon razed to make room for the modern brick structure which is now occupied by a drug store.
