age about 30, of Picher was in a critical condition at Picher Oklahoma hospital tonight suffering from a deep stab wound that punctured the left lung as the result of an altercation late Friday night with John York, about 28 in a Picher downtown taproom...York also received a wound in the left side, near the hip bone, which had been inflicted with an ice pick. ...The altercation occurred in Indian Joe's' taproom, located on the corner of Fourth and Main Streets...Bostic was sitting at a table, talking with Loma Jockers of North Miami Oklahoma. York then entered the establishment from a rear door. Words were exchanged, it was stated at the county attorney's office, but officials could not learn what they were, nor what motives could have prompted the fight. Bostic struck York in the face...then fearing a knife in the hand of York, Bostic jumped toward the bar of the establishment, leaned over it to grab some object. As Bostic stretched his arm over the bar he was stabbed in the left side. Wheeling around, Bostic then retaliated with a sweeping thrust with an ice pick. The pick struck York near the hip. Witnesses succeeded finally in separating the two. York was struck over the head by a bystander. Bostic was rushed to Picher hospital. York, treated at American hospital, Picher, for the wound near his hip was later removed to his Picher home. The incident, occurred about 11 pm. Deputy Sheriff Roy Denman and Joe Hobson investigated the alteration.
