Abstract Data

Guy F. Blackmer, age 53, veteran mine superintendent, died at his home, 103 D Street southwest, Miami, at 8:05 am today after an illness of several months. He was engaged in mining activities in the Tri-state area for the past 30 years. Entering the mining business in 1910, he was later connected with the Commerce Mining and Royalty Company and continued with the Eagle-Picher Company when the latter acquired the former's properties several years ago. He was district deputy grand master of the Masonic lodge a few years ago and had been a member of the Commerce Masonic order. At his death he was president of the Ninth district Masonic association and was recognized as one of the most active Masons in the county. He was also a member of the district Boy Scout council and was chairman of camping and activities of the district organization. For several years the mining man was a deacon in the Baptist church at Commerce and a member of the board of education in that community. Blackmer was also prominent in the Democratic party. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Guy F. Blackmer; three daughters, Mrs. Gabe McKenzie of Picher Oklahoma, Mrs. Bert Parker of Joplin Missouri and Elizabeth Ann Blackmer of Miami; a son, Clifford Blackmer of St. Louis Missouri; two brothers, Lee A. Blackmer of Pocatello, Idaho, and Hugh Blacker of Compton Californian; a sister, Mrs. Cora Rhodes of Los Angeles California, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be announced by the Cooper funeral home.

Funeral services for Guy F. Blackmer, Miami mining man who died after an illness of several months. Services will be conducted at 1 pm Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist church with the Rev. J. Grover Seales assisted by Rev. H. Kirkpatrick. Pallbearers will be Bob Tulhill, Charles Osborn, Roy T. Wills, Arthur Croninger, and W. L. Williams. Burial will be at G.A.R. cemetery, Miami, under the directions of the Cooper funeral home.
