Funeral services for Thomas Jefferson Black, more familiarly known as Jeff Black, who died Sep 18, 1925, age 45, at his home, 441 South Frisco Street, Picher, at 7:45 pm, will be held at the Union church at 2 pm Sunday. The Rev. C. O. Huff, pastor of the Central Methodist church, will conduct the services. He will be assisted by the Rev. Fred DeMier, and the Rev. J. H. Mott of the Union church. The IOOF Lodge, of which he was a member, will have charge of the services. Burial will be in the Miami cemetery. The body will lie in state at the parlors of the Green undertaking company until 11 am Sunday morning, when it will be taken to the family home where it will remain until 1:45 pm, at which time it will be taken to the Union church. The funeral will be under the direction of the Green undertaking company. Mr. Black was one of the best known lead and zinc miner of the Tri-State district. Previous to locating in Picher, he and his family resided at Webb City Missouri, a number of years. He had been ill with tuberculosis several years, having been forced to give up his office of Justice of the Peace about one year ago. Mr. Black is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary V. Black, two children, Millard Black, 13, and Margaret Black, 10; four brothers and sisters. The brothers are Fayett Black and James Black, of South Fork Missouri, Anthony Black of Tacoma Washington, and John Black of Picher. The sisters are: Mrs. Clara Boose and Mrs. Letha Kinslow of South Fork.

Huff, pastor of the Central Methodist church, will conduct the services, assisted by the Rev. J. H. Mott and the Rev. Fred DeMier. The I. O. O. F. Lodge of Picher will be in charge of the services. Burial will be in the Miami G.A.R. cemetery under the direction of the Green undertaking company. Notice to Picher Odd Fellows: Members of the I. O. O. F. Funeral services were held at the Union church at 1 pm yesterday. The Rev. C. O. Huff, pastor of the Central Methodist church, conducted the services, assisted by the Rev. J. H. Mott and Rev. Fred DeMier. The IOOF Lodge was in charge of the services. The Rebekah order, of which he was also a member, attended the funeral in a body. Burial was Sep 20, 1925, in the Miami G.A.R. cemetery. The attendance was one of the largest ever present at a funeral in the Picher district.
