Green Valley, Arizona, former resident of Picher Oklahoma, died Wednesday, Dec 17, 1997, from a lengthy illness. He was 74. Mr. Black was born on Oct 20, 1923, in Quapaw Oklahoma, to father Earl R. Black and mother Anna Black. They both preceded him in death. His entire career was in the mining industry, beginning in the Picher field. He retired in 1986, as mine supervisor from U.S. Borax Company Mine, Boron California. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Helen Black, Tucson Arizona; a daughter, Connie Curtis, Tucson; a brother, Gale Black, Miami; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren, all of Tucson. A private service was held under the direction of Green Valley Mortuary.
