38 years old, a hard rock lead and zinc miner, died at his home near the Devil's Promenade, Baxter Springs Kansas, Rt 2, at 6:30 o'clock Thursday evening, after a lingering illness. Surviving are a son, Harold Eugene Bird, Baxter Springs Rt 2; his mother, Mrs. Sylvia McClure of Truesdale Oregon; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Massey, Tulsa Oklahoma, and two grandchildren. The Durnil funeral home will announce the funeral arrangements.

Funeral services for Raymond A. Bird will be held at the Durnil chapel at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon, the Rev. Frank Captain officiating. Burial will be made in the Newman cemetery, near Peoria Oklahoma under the direction of the Durnil funeral home.
