Clarence A. Bennett, died Dec 16, 1948, age 58, at his home at 218 South River Street in Commerce at 1 pm Thursday. An employee of the Rialto Mining Company for 25 years, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Howard Knox, and a son, Leroy Bennett, both of Commerce; a sister, Mrs. Iola Tingley of Eugene Oregon and five grandchildren...Pallbearers were: Lewis Grayson, Stoke McWethy, Mutt Mantle [father of Mickey Mantle], Sherman Shamblin, Fred Witten and Lawrence Rutherford. Burial was in G.A.R. cemetery at Miami, under direction of the Mitchelson funeral home.
