47 years old, 203 South Francis Street, Picher Oklahoma, one of the best known miners of the district, died at 11:30 o'clock Saturday night at the home of a sister Mrs. J. T. Loyd of Winona Missouri, where he had recently gone in the hope of benefiting his health. Besides the sister at whose home he died, Mr. Beard is survived by his wife and son, Gene Beard, of Picher. Mr. Beard was among the pioneer miners of the Picher district. For many years he was employed as ground foreman by the Eagle-Picher Company. His last employment was with the New Chicago Mine Company corporation, where he worked about three years until forced to cease work several months ago on account of failing health. Funeral services will be held at the Union church at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Wesley Post officiating. Pallbearers will be employees of the New Chicago Mine Company. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery, Miami, under direction of the Todd undertaking company.
