well-known Tri-State district a hard rock lead and zinc mining operator, died at 5:15 o'clock Sunday morning at his home, 229 B Street southeast, Miami, following a several months' illness. He was 44 years old. President of the Baird Mining Company of Cardin Oklahoma, the operator had been a resident of Miami and Picher Oklahoma for the last 25 years. He was a member of the Picher Masonic lodge and a member of the Knights of Pythias. Baird, who was born at Weir Kansas, is survived by his wife, Alice Baird, of the home; his father, James Baird, Picher; one brother, Martin Baird, Commerce Oklahoma; and four sisters, Mrs. Goldie Davis and Mrs. Violet Walker, both of Picher, Mrs. Iva Parson, Galena Kansas, and Mrs. Pansy Norris, Los Angeles California. Funeral services are to be conducted at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the First Christian church. The Reverend Alexander of Joplin Missouri, will officiate. Masonic rites will be held at the grave in the G.A.R. cemetery at Miami. Green funeral home of Pryor is in charge of arrangements.
