63, a retired hard rock lead and zinc miner, died at 9 am Sunday at the Baxter Springs Kansas Memorial hospital. Born Sep 7, 1906, in Wentworth Missouri, he was graduated from Picher high school with the class of 1928 and was married the same year to Edna Hawes, stepdaughter of the late Rev. Billy Bain of Picher Oklahoma. He worked in New Mexico before returning to the Tri-State area and had resided in Baxter Springs since 1942. Surviving besides his widow of the home in Baxter Springs, are a daughter, Mrs. Doris Buttersworth, Riverton Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Clouse, 426 13th avenue northwest, Miami; Mrs. Sylvia Martin, Columbus Kansas; and Mrs. Imogene Harrel, Kansas City Missouri; and four grandchildren.
