age 10, died. Object Lodged in Girl's Throat Causes Death: A jackstonewhich she swallowed in play eight weeks ago proved fatal today to Mary Thomas, 10 year old daughter of Mr and Mrs. T. J. Thomas, 601 L St. NW, Miami Oklahoma. She died at Miami Hospital following an operation to removed the object from her throat, where it had lodged. The jackstone was removed through a hole cut for that purpose, but the girl died shortly afterward. Parents of the child were not aware of the object in her throat until she complained of not feeling well. She was taken to the hospital, where an examination disclosed the jackstone. Mrs. Thomas said: the child apparently had swallowed two jackstones. She removed one at the time. It had not gotten far into the throat. At that time, the mother said, the child, in in answer to her inquiry, said she had swallowed only the one. Besides her parents, the child is survived by two brothers, Austin and Eugene Thomas, both of the home, and three sisters, Mrs Leona Ausherman of Topeka, Kansas, and Juanita and Lucille Thomas, both of the home. Funeral arrangements have not been made. Cooper Undertaking company is in charge. Note: Cooper records show Mary Thomas was buried in G.A.R. Cemetery. Cemetery record has on that date, only a last name of Thomas was buried with no first name on book.
