Sharbutt, Curtis Franklin

Abstract Data

age 3 years, died. Curtis Franklin Sharbutt, and Armon Sharbutt, 11 months old, sons of Mr and Mrs. Curtis D. Sharbutt, were burned to death late yesterday afternoon at their home, a two-room house on the Picher-Cardin Oklahoma highway near the Golden Rod Mine crossing. Mrs. Sherbutt had gone to the home of a neighbor for water for use in preparing supper and the house was a mass of flames when she returned. The father is a ground man at one of the Golden Rod hard rock lead and zinc mines, and was at work when the tragedy occurred. The Picher Oklahoma fire department was called, but the house was destroyed before its arrival. The bodies of the children which were charred beyond recognition, were recovered and removed to the morgue of the Todd Undertaking company. The fire is believed to have started from a burning coal stove in the living room where the children were playing when the mother left the house. No funeral arrangements have been made.
