age 42, died Oct 8, 1927 from an unavoidable accident... He was fatally injured when knocked down and run over by a motor car in front of his store. He died five hours later at the Miami Oklahoma hospital. The car, a Marmon Touring Car, was driven by Wallace Mahan of Kansas City, Missouri. Mahan reported to county authorities following the accident, but was not detained. Mr. Parkison was said to have stepped out of the way of another can and into the path of Mahan's machine. He then started to jump, it was reported but one foot slipped. Authorities attached no blame to Mahan. The grocer had been to a barber shop across the street from his store and was returning to his place of business at the time. Mahan was driving to Kansas City... Mr. Parkison was a brother of Ben Parkison, mayor of Cardin Oklahoma, and he leaves two daughters, Audrey and Merle, both of whom are students in Sacred Heart Academy, Vinita, Oklahoma. His wife Clara E. Parkison, died seven years ago. Also surviving are three brothers, Bert, Tom and Ben Parkison; two sisters and his parents, Jacob Henry Parkison and Roxie Valetta Arminta Parkison. Funeral Services for William S. Parkison, fatally injured when struck by an automobile in Cardin Oklahoma, were held this afternoon, Oct 10, 1927... burial was in the Baxter Springs Cemetery, Baxter Springs Kansas. Mr. Parkison a grocer, was killed in front of his store in Cardin when run over by an automobile containing tourists, and died at Miami Oklahoma hospital. Note: Name is spelled Parkinson in newspaper and Parkison on cemetery stone.
