age 51,died Sep 6, 1927, at the family home in Ottawa Oklahoma, after only a few hours' illness. Mrs. Burton had assisted her husband, V. A. Burton in the mercantile business at Ottawa for the last 18 years. Besides her husband, she leaves four sons, Cloyd of Commerce Oklahoma, and Don, Demar and Virgil of the home, and five daughters, Mrs. Edna Collier of Miami Oklahoma, Miss Arline Burton of Joplin Missouri and Misses Bertha, Opal and Evelyn of the home. Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. America C. Hall of Commerce, and four brothers, A. O. Hall of Yonkers Oklahoma, Albert Hall, of Denver Colorado, W. E. Hall of Shidler Oklahoma and G. A. Hall of Reserve Kansas. Funeral tomorrow, Sep 8, 1927 in the Ottawa Cemetery, near Miami Oklahoma, under direction of the Cooper Undertaking Company. Note: In newspaper index she is listed as Mrs. V. A. Burton.

A large group from Commerce, Oklahoma, attended funeral services at Ottawa Oklahoma Thursday for Mrs. Effie Burton, mother of Cloyd Burton of Commerce. The Rev. E. A. Spiller of Commerce officiated. Those attending from Commerce were: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mitchelson, Miss Ruth Mitchelson, Mesdames Gertrude Nelson, Earl Crow, Grave Corlow, Will Barnett, J. E. Butterly, Bernie Thomas, Lawrence Rutherford, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Nafus, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Dawson, Miss Florence Enwright and Riley Soffel. Mrs. Burton's mother, Mrs. America Hall, is a resident of Commerce, Cloyd Burton is employed as bookkeeper a mine. His mother was taken seriously ill Wednesday morning and died before he and Mrs. Hall arrived at the home in Ottawa.
