With a worried list of relatives and numerous state and Federal officers inactive pending the complete analysis of the contents of Alphonso Greenback Whitebird's viscera: the only new development in the inquiry into the death Sunday of the rich Quapaw Indian was the arrest of Arthur Fulcher, age 24. A Devil's Promenade man. Fulcher was driving Whitebird in Whitebird's car Sunday, when Whitebird died, officers believe. Dr. F. P. Heim, health officer here who sent the viscera to state laboratories at Oklahoma City after two Miami doctors and one at Quapaw had performed the autopsy, said today that he did not expect a full report for three or four days. Examination will be made for all known poisons. Filcher has not been charged with any crime and is inertly being detained for observation. He is alleged to have told conflicting stories regarding the activities of himself and Whitebird Sunday and officers are attempting to learn the facts... William Nash, special Federal Officer connected with the Indian Department is running down bootleggers catering to Indians, is expected to work on the Whiteird case, beginning today...funeral services for Whitebird will be held Wednesday at Quapaw Okla homa. Oficers are further interested in Whitebird's death because he did not die with symptoms of alcoholism, although he was known to be an alcohol addict. He also had a weak heart, however, and some of the investigators believe that organ was the cause of his death... Mrs. Ruby Whitebird, wife of the dead Indian, Monday assured officers that Fulcher had had nothing to do with the Indian's death. "Art like Alphonso too well to do anything wrong to him," she told officers. Mrs. Whitebird and several othr persons were at a Picher Oklahoma drinking place about Sunday noon at the same time Fulcher and Whitebird were there drinking beer, Fulcher told officers. Whitebird was found dead by his mother, Mrs. Flora Whitebird of Quapaw Oklahoma when she went to his car and attempted to revive him from what she believed was a drunken stupor about 6 Sunday night. Fulcher had driven the car to Quapaw and then departed afoot, apparently oblivious to the fact that the Indian was dead... The Federal Government obtained "buys" from each of three men, alleged to have sold Whitebird liquor Sunday, and these samples are being analyzed. The trio of alleged bootleggers had not yet been arraigned.
