Died. Born Oct 22, 1865. Age 64, died Oct 14, 1930 of abscess of liver. Miami. Mayor Denton, was mayor of Commerce Oklahoma. He was known as one of the founders of Commerce. Came to the old Lincolnville mining district in 1907 from Arkansas, Mr. Denton moved to Commerce and built the Ruth hotel, still operated by the Dentons, and he later branched out into the feed business and the retail grocery stores. He operated the hotel, feed store, two groceries in Commerce and one in Miami at the time of this death. He has served two terms as mayor. Survived by his wife Ruth Denton; two sons Clarence Denton and Ray Denton and four grand-children, all of Commerce. Mitchelson funeral home, Commerce Oklahoma. Burial in G.A.R. cemetery.
