Westley, Martin

Martin Westley, 42 years old, 100 South Picher street, Picher Oklahoma, suffered a severe injury to his left knee at the Dewdrop Mine, a hard rock lead and zinc mine, yesterday. He was brought to the Picher hospital in an ambulance. He was employed as a shoveler and a large boulder, which he was attempting to load in a can, slipped from his hands and struck his knee.

Picher Oklahoma, Jan. 23.--Martin Westley, 45 years old, died at a local hospital last night shortly before 12 as the result of injuries received at the Dewdrop Mine several weeks ago. He is survived by his wife. No definite funeral arrangements have been made. The funeral will be in charge of the N. W. Green undertaking company of Picher. Westley was employed as a shoveler at the Dewdrop Mine. While attempting to load a large boulder in a can it slipped from his hands, falling on his leg.

Picher Oklahoma, Jan.24. The body of Martin Westley, 45 years old, 100 South Picher street, Picher, who died at the Picher hospital Tuesday night following injuries received at the Dewdrop Mine several weeks ago, was taken to Fayetteville Arkansas, for burial by the N. W. Green undertaking company of Picher yesterday. The body was accompanied by the deceased's wife and Mrs. C. A. Carnes. Westey had been employed as a hard rock lead and zinc shoveler. While attempting to load a large boulder in a can it slipped from his hands, falling on his leg and inflicting the fatal injury.
