Picher Mine No. 1

Ira Upson the 16 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Upson, was killed instantly at the Picher Mine No. 1, a hard rock lead and zinc mine. The young man was a tailing herder. He was seen last going to the elevator for the purpose of oiling the machinery. When he did not return an investigation was made. They soon found him at the bottom of a shaft, where he had fallen 60 feet. The body was moved to the Todd undertaking company, of Picher. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

Ira Upson, the 16 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Upson, who was killed at the Picher Mine No. 1, will be buried in the Baxter cemetery Friday afternoon.
