Baxter Springs Kansas. May 14 Glenn Eugene Turner, 27 years old, died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Lena Turner, 1222 Park avenue, at 12:40 pm yesterday afternoon from the results of burns received February 1st. Turner suffered severe burns on his legs when his trousers, which were saturated with gasoline, which he accidentally spilled on them, became ignited. He was working on a drill rig with Elmer Harrah for the H. H. H. Mining Company, two and a half miles west of Baxter.
He was taken to Freeman hospital in Joplin Missouri. He was brought to the home of his mother on April 18. He was born April 10, 1901, in Baxter Springs. Besides his mother, he is survived by his father, Eugene Turner of Baxter Springs; two sisters, Ruth Turner, assistant city clerk, and Joy Turner, and three brothers, Lee Turner, Earl Turner and Clare Turner, all of Baxter Springs. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm Tuesday afternoon at the First Christian church here, with J. A. Meggison of Riverton Kansas in charge. Pallbearers will be Elmer Harrah, Merrill Winters, Earl Love, Elmer Jarrett, Walter Campbell and Leonard Rossman. Burial will be in Lowell cemetery. The city offices will be closed tomorrow afternoon during the funeral services.
