Section 2

William Tallman, about 35 years old, was fatally injured by a falling slab in the Admiralty Mine, near Douthat Oklahoma. He was sent to Joplin Missouri for treatment. Tallman was from Webb City Missouri. He had been in the mine only a short time. He was what is known as a "hooker." He had just sent up a can loaded with rock, and it is believed it was too full and that a boulder dropped from the car, striking him on the head where he stood at the bottom of the shaft. Tallman's skull was fractured and he was otherwise injured. He was given first aid at the mine and rushed to Joplin. It was said he could not live until he reached the hospital. Note: Burial in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Jasper, Jasper County, Missouri.
