Picher Oklahoma, May 14--Drew Smith, 35 years old, died at 7:30 tonight in the American hospital at Picher of injuries received at 8:30 this afternoon at the New Chicago Mine Corporation when a boulder fell from the roof of a building in which he was working, fracturing his skull. Smith, a roof trimmer, was repairing the roof when the boulder fell and struck him. He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance of the Todd undertaking company, of Picher. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Jessie Smith; a daughter, Drucella Smith, 2 years old, and a son, Cecil Smith, 11 years old. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Picher Oklahoma, May 15, Funeral arrangements are incomplete for Drew Smith, 35 years old, 531 South Frisco street, Picher, who died at a local hospital at 7:30 last night as a result of injuries received several hours earlier at the No. 2 shaft of the New Chicago Mines Corporation, where he was employed as roof trimmer. Smith was struck upon the head by a falling boulder while engaged in trimming the roof to make the drift safe for the workmen. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jessie Smith, one son, Cecil Smith, aged 11, and one daughter, Druceilia Smith, 2. The body is at the parlors of the Todd undertaking company, of Picher.
Picher Oklahoma, May 17--Funeral rites for Drew"Tex" Smith, 35 years old, 531 South Frisco street, Picher, who died Tuesday from injuries received in a mine of the New Chicago Mine corporation at Picher. He was employed as roof trimmer. Services will be conducted at the Union church at 10:30 o'clock tomorrow morning. The Rev. Wesley Post will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery, near Granby Missouri, where final services will be held, under direction of the Todd undertaking company, of Picher.
